Your Responsibilities as a Pool Owner

Balance Your Water

Your pool water should be tested and balanced as soon as it is full.

Proper chemical levels protect your liner, equipment, and provide safe swimming conditions. Regular testing throughout the swimming season is one of the most important parts of pool ownership.

Run Your Pump Daily

Your filtration system should run every day during the swimming season.

Most pools require 8–12 hours of circulation each day, with longer run times often needed during periods of heavy use or extreme summer heat.

Good circulation helps keep your water clear and healthy.

Keep Your Pool Clean

Leaves, pollen, insects, and dirt naturally accumulate in every pool.

Regular skimming, vacuuming, and brushing will help prevent algae growth and keep your water looking its best.

Don't Panic if Your Water Level Drops

One of the most common phone calls we receive is:

"I think my pool is leaking."

In many cases, it isn't.

During the heat of summer, it is completely normal for a pool to lose water through evaporation. High temperatures, direct sunlight, low humidity, wind, and lots of splashing can all cause noticeable water loss.

In fact, many pools lose ¼ to ½ inch of water every day during hot weather. Over the course of a week, that can add up to several inches.

Before assuming you have a leak:

  • Check the weather conditions.

  • Consider how much the pool has been used.

  • Look for obvious wet areas around the pool.

  • Refill the water to the proper level and continue monitoring it.

If your pool continues losing water unusually fast or you notice constantly wet ground around the pool, give us a call and we'll be happy to help determine whether further inspection is needed.

Clean Your Filter

Your filter is constantly removing debris from your water.

Whether you have a cartridge or sand filter, regular cleaning or backwashing is necessary to maintain proper water flow and filtration.
